Kittery Community Center, 120 Rogers Road, Kittery, ME , 03904, United States.

What does it look like to critically evaluate your literacy instruction when there are so many contrasting ideas and competing voices telling you what you should do? If literacy instruction is causing you doubt, confusion, or overwhelm, then this interactive workshop is for you!

Participants will have the opportunity to:

Sort through the jargon and media bluster to build a clearer understanding of what is necessary to engage learners in the complex process of learning to read.

Examine evolving, research-based models of reading development and components of a comprehensive literacy framework to identify characteristics of evidence-based, child-centered literacy practices.

Evaluate current instructional methods, regardless of the curricular resources or pedagogical approach used in your district, to help decide what to keep, revise, add, or let go.

Create an action plan and connect to resources that will support effective literacy instruction at your school.

Cancellation policy

We can accept cancellations up to 2 weeks prior the event, September 20, 2024.
